Serbian professor: Russia should close its airspace in response to sanctions
Kyiv, November 10 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Russia, in response to sanctions due to its position on Ukraine, must close its airspace to transit flights of Western airlines.
Serbian political scientist Dr. Srdja Trifkovic stated this at the round table.

“Russian leaders mistakenly use the phrase “our Western partners.” Partnership implies mutual willingness to give in and respect interests. But the only language they use is coercion and force. Sanctions must be responded to with tough sanctions. Why do Western airlines still fly over the Russian Federation to the Far East? Why does the Russian Federation continue to buy cars?” - he said.
“Slobodan Milosevic in the 90s thought that he could come to an agreement with them. But after concessions, he always received new demands,” the expert recalled.
In his opinion, the crisis in Ukraine has much in common with the events in Yugoslavia.
He recalled that the Austrians in the 19th century “launched the creation of a Bosnian identity,” “in the same way, recently there has been an attempt to create a Montenegrin people, which in a historical and linguistic sense is part of the Serbian trunk.”
“Through NGO networks and the soft power project, systematically after the collapse of the USSR, a new Ukrainian identity was formed, which is based on an anti-Russian foundation, representing the expansion of the Galician Ukrainianity created by the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, which has an anti-Orthodox and anti-Russian character,” Trifkovich said.
