Serbs want to arm themselves
The population of Serbia sees a threat to the territorial integrity of their country and overwhelmingly supports increased spending on defense.
This is evidenced by the results of the “Security Radar 2019” study conducted by the Ebert Foundation, which were presented today in Moscow.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, 77% of Serbs surveyed as part of the study are inclined to see the government allocate more funds to the defense of the state. They see the greatest threat to themselves from the United States, Albania and Croatia. To a lesser extent from Great Britain, Bosnia and Macedonia.
“In Serbia, this is due, to some extent, to the fact that Serbia, according to the population, has a lot of enemies, a lot of dangers around the perimeter of the country. There is the effect that Serbia spent nothing or little on the army for a long time and there is a desire to strengthen and increase funds for defense,” say the authors of the study.
