Serbs in Bosnia erected a monument to their hero
Bust of a professor Nikola Kolevich, who served as vice-president of the Republika Srpska during the tragic events in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s, was installed in the park near the building of the National Theater in Banja Luka.
The event was attended by a member of the Presidium of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik.
“We pay tribute to the people who, in difficult times, contributed to the idea of making the Republika Srpska a separate state and asserting the freedom of the Serbian people,” Dodik said.
“Many good people helped us install this bust, and this fact gives us great joy, because my father, who fought for the creation of the Republika Srpska, is not forgotten. We can say that the bust was created at the expense of the Serbian people, for which we express our deep gratitude,” said Kolevich’s daughter Bogdana.
The first speaker of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska, Momčilo Krajšnik, also took the floor.
“Today the residents of Banja Luka remember our Nikol Kolevich. He always loved Banja Luka, he loved the Republika Srpska, let’s preserve his memory,” said Krajšnik, President of the Association of Founders of the Republika Srpska.
The President of Republika Srpska Zeljka Cvijanovic was a student of Professor Kolevich.
“By this we show that we are ready, appreciating the contributions of personalities of the past, to move towards strengthening and protecting the Republika Srpska, as well as solving upcoming challenges. I am glad that our republic is stable, strong, with strong institutions and has citizens who love it,” Cvijanovic said.
Let us recall that Nikola Kolevic was elected as a Serbian member of the Presidency of the Federal Republic of BiH in 1990, and since April 1992 he has been Vice-President of the Republika Srpska.
