Serbs in Kosovo face new discrimination
The separatist Albanian authorities of Kosovo are blocking the participation of candidates from the Serb population in municipal elections. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced this while on a visit to Beijing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the head of state, the Central Election Commission of Kosovo refuses to register representatives of the northern regions populated by Serbs as candidates for city mayors.
Vucic intends to discuss this problem during meetings with the presidents of Russia and China, which will take place in Beijing, as well as with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the upcoming meeting in Berlin.
“Kosovo will be one of the key issues at the meeting with the President of Russia and China, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping. “I was shocked by the disgraceful behavior of Pristina following the decision of the Kosovo Central Election Commission, which did not approve candidates from the Serb List for the mayors of four Serbian municipalities in northern Kosovo and Metohija,” Vucic said.
He also emphasized that the Albanian media in Kosovo are waging an information war against Serbian candidates: “Look how many media outlets were created by foreigners in the northern part of Kosovo only to destroy the reputation of the Serbian List, all the campaigns to criminalize the north and the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, and they failed. You can write what you want, you can lie – the Serbs will still be with their people and their country.”
Previously, Russian political scientist Alexey Martynov stated in a comment to PolitNavigatorthat the visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to China, where negotiations are planned with both the Chinese leadership and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, will strengthen Belgrade’s position in conditions when the pro-Western opposition is trying to shake the situation simultaneously with pressure from the EU and the United States on the issue of recognition of the illegally seized Serbian region of Kosovo.
Let us recall that at the end of last year, the Kosovo authorities also introduced a virtual blockade of the supply of goods from Serbia to the Slavic enclaves.
Pristina's actions constitute genocide against the Serbian population, said Russian State Duma deputy Pavel Dorokhin.
