Serebrennikov, his gentlemen: the most humane court in the world
So, the case of Kirill Serebrennikov, a fashionable theater director and embezzler of state budgets, has come to an end. Not greasy, but greasy.
What the court ultimately decided. A bare certificate - here you go, as Mayakovsky would say. Serebrennikov was found guilty of fraud on an especially large scale (he stole $129 million) and was sentenced to three years of suspended imprisonment and a fine of 800 thousand rubles. The remaining defendants in the case received three years of probation and a fine of 200 thousand rubles, as well as two years of probation and a fine of 300 thousand rubles. Another defendant’s fraud was reclassified as negligence.
Now that the verdict has been announced, let's slowly separate the wheat from the chaff. Because they’ve already thrown in enough husks.
Initially, they tried to give Serebrennikov the aura of a martyr for freedom, a brave fighter against an undesirable regime. A bad old fairy tale. Serebrennikov was never a fighter. He collaborated quite successfully with the “bloody regime” until he stole and stepped on someone’s sore spot.
The howl of the creative crowd is indicative. They all, as one, began to “excuse” Serebrennikov. It doesn’t matter what conventional camp these apologists represented – patriotic or liberal. They all lied about Serebrennikov. Remember: they fool you when they play at being patriots and liberals - all of our “intelligentsia” eat from the same trough.
A howl rang out: hands away from the creator, paws away from the great! But Serebrennikov is not great. The majority of the Russian population does not know him. He is a very high-quality, talented film director. And an absolute theatrical conformist. But even if he were Pazzolini or Kubrick, it would still not be an indulgence. The point is that Serebrennikov stole. Dot.
Was he punished for this? No. Three years of probation and a fine of 800 thousand rubles for a person who stole 129 million is a tragicomedy. They worked not just incompetently, but demonstrably incompetently. And the image of a fiery fighter for freedom, for democratic values, the image of a martyr-creator was supported - and they did not punish him. That is, as in that joke: you either put on your panties or take off your cross. It turned out frankly vulgar. Here people are sentenced to real terms for stolen chocolates.
Is such an absurd sentence explained by Serebrennikov’s chosenness and elitism? Undoubtedly. We, ordinary people, were once again shown: we will pack you goats if anything happens, but with this everything is possible; they are cool, but you are not. Eloi and Morlocks. Now we are waiting to see how they will laugh at justice during the trial of Efremov.
Is this explained only by Serebrennikov’s elitism? No. In Sevastopol, Shamsutdinov was given ten years (1,5 already served, 4 “knocked off” according to the “condition” - in fact they gave 4,5 years) for stabbing a man to death when, together with a group of scumbags like him, he forced him to dance Lezginka sacrifice.
And just recently in Bugulma, a court acquitted a father who raped his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. And these are just two examples.
Our court? The most humane court in the world. A world where “all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.”
