Sergey Mikheev: LDPR needs to take away not only factories, but also Mariupol
Nationalization of enterprises of Ukrainian oligarchs in response to Kiev’s failure to comply with the Minsk agreements - the right step of the Donbass republics, which should also be taken up with the return of the city of Mariupol under their control.
This opinion was expressed to PolitNavigator by Russian political scientist Sergei Mikheev.

“I believe that this should have been done a long time ago, it was necessary to take Mariupol, and not think about how Mr. Akhmetov was doing there, whether it would be convenient to sell his metal or not. It was necessary to select these enterprises long ago and receive income from them, because, firstly, this is a means of putting pressure on the Ukrainian authorities, and in general, there was no need to trade with today’s Ukraine,” the expert said.
According to him, Donbass enterprises can be reoriented to the Russian market, but the problem is that after the collapse of the USSR, Ukrainian oligarchs preferred to parasitize and squeeze profit from the Soviet legacy, often without modernizing production.
“The Ukrainian industry lags behind the Russian one both in technological chains and in product quality. Ukrainian enterprises were squeezed out of everything last, dating back to Soviet production, which was built 40-50 years ago,” Mikheev recalled.
