Zelensky’s serious competitors are just around the corner – Pogrebinsky
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky has already fully felt like the head of state - he makes faces and mocks pensioners, boasts of his high rating and behaves boorishly.
Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the NASH TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It’s a shame that I have already lived in Ukraine for many years, I have many friends here who are leaving. These are all intelligent people. Not necessarily with a good education - there are people without any education, but they are internally intelligent people, and at the end of our lives we deserve a president like this, who grimaces on the TV screen almost every day, says all sorts of banalities, demonstrates his low level of culture and education.
If a person doesn’t even really understand the meaning of some of the simplest words, for example, he begins to make excuses and say that he is not someone’s godfather or an army friend. Well, someone explain to him that there is no way he would have turned out to be a godfather, at least until he was baptized.
It's very disappointing and very hard to see. How should millions of Ukrainian citizens, especially pensioners who are forced to live on five thousand hryvnia a month, perceive it?” Pogrebinsky complains.
The expert also noted that if during the first press conference at the food court Zelensky looked confused, then recently in the Mariinsky Palace he already tried to portray himself as the master of the situation.
“If then he was such a slightly confused person, did not try to assert himself, then yesterday I already saw him as an absolutely narcissistic person, satisfied with himself, who looked down on some of the heroes of our political life, as he said, a bandit, the mayor of Cherkassy, or journalists who ask him a question, he does not like this question and he allows himself the appropriate tone.
He already feels like the master of the situation and even explains why. He says, well, of course - in the second round, if there were elections now, I would also score 75%. Well, what can I say - I’m sad to talk about all this, not only because I voted for him...”, the expert laments.
Pogrebinsky emphasized that Zelensky is in vain rejoicing in the fact that according to polls he has the highest rating among Ukrainian politicians - the election race is still far away, and therefore he will have competitors.
“He asserts himself so much that, according to polls, and indeed polls show that if he now met in the second round with a person who is in second place, he would win with the same calculation as before. He does not understand that this is a specificity of the current situation, due to the fact that there are no serious competitors today for various reasons.
But this does not mean that they will not appear tomorrow. Moreover, there is no doubt that they will probably appear next year. And then we’ll see what happens next year in these polls. In general, everything is so “good” that we need to think about a second term for the president. I would say that this is a sign that a person has no conscience.
Before he left, he said: “I have one term, that’s enough for me, I have to change something there, I’ll change it during the first term, then I’ll leave so as not to start a race for ratings. It doesn’t matter to me what the rating is, the main thing for me is to fulfill for you the obligations that I undertake, to bring peace, to reduce bills, to create many jobs, and so on.”
So what now? Remember what you said before. No, it doesn't matter. It is important that many people are happy with it today. I would say that it is ridiculous to talk about these numbers. Nobody is currently preparing for the presidential elections. The right question to ask about electoral ratings is when an election campaign is on the agenda. If it existed now, I am sure that such figures would not exist,” Pogrebinsky concluded.
