Sevastopol is close to ridding its beaches of sewage
The construction of the Yuzhnye sewage treatment plant in Sevastopol is proceeding according to plan and will be completed on time.
300 meters of a new exhaust manifold have already been laid next to the one that has fallen into disrepair, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The situation at the Yuzhnye WWTP is stable, the project is being implemented,” assured Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev. – Two discharge chambers are being built in the area from the sea to the tank range. Four objects were excluded from the examination, including the administrative building and the sand trap building. They are currently under construction. By agreement, we carry out the examination in parts so as not to stop construction. Accordingly, 2023 is the commissioning of Yuzhny.
According to the governor, by the fall the contractor will receive all the documentation and equipment that had to be replaced due to new sanctions against Crimea and the entire Russian Federation. As a result, some of the instruments and mechanisms will be designed by one manufacturer, and some will be available analogues. After installation is completed, the collector will be put into operation so as not to put Cossack Bay at risk.
Let us remind you that for the installation of the collector and the construction of the discharge chamber, access to the Blue Bay of Sevastopol is completely blocked. The commissioning of an essentially new sewerage treatment complex is scheduled for 2024, and until then Golubaya Bay is a construction site. Taking into account the fact that previously all wastewater was discharged into the sea conditionally treated, and the beach in Blue Bay was officially closed, both Sevastopol residents and city guests are interested in waiting for the treatment plant to start.
