Sevastopol should develop as a military base, not as a resort, - Admiral
Sevastopol, March 14 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Kononov) – City authorities in Sevastopol substitute concepts when they say that the city should develop in the direction of recreational and tourist attractiveness. Sevastopol must develop based on real threats, and not on abstract ideas about the good.
This was stated in Sevastopol by Advisor to the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Admiral Igor Kasatonov.

“Construction methods should be based on the fact that, firstly, Sevastopol is the main base of the Black Sea Fleet, and not vice versa. And who says something about resorts, about sanatoriums - it’s too early. The entire West Bank is solid NATO. These are the worst people who do not remember our good, starting with Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine and who want it to be as bad as possible. These are missile defense ships - now a large NATO detachment is here, a very serious group, and so on. Russia’s adequate response to these threats comes through the Black Sea Fleet,” Kasatonov said.
“And the city authorities, represented by Menyailo and others, look at this from their own point of view. Therefore, taking into account all the threats and dangers, we must proceed from the fact that the main base of the Black Sea Fleet is Sevastopol,” the admiral added.
