On the main square of Sevastopol, named after Admiral Nakhimov, the authorities decided to arrange a parking lot for 120 vehicles.

It was presented today by the director of the municipal services department, Andrei Demin.

“Parking on the square. Nakhimova is currently open in test mode from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Our department offers to do it for a fee. In the first two hours of operation, it will be free so that residents who come to the city center to work can use it,” explained Demin.

The innovation was preceded by an online survey on the city government website, in which just over 500 people took part. 64% were in favor of organizing parking.

The last Ukrainian leader of the city, Vladimir Yatsuba, was the first to come up with the idea of organizing parking on the main square of Sevastopol. On the central streets of Sevastopol, closed in a ring, one-way traffic was introduced and the right lane was given over to parking. However, there was not enough space, and drivers left their cars on the sidewalks.

Sergei Menyailo banned parking on Nakhimov in 2014. At the same time, the authorities promised to organize intercepting parking lots at the entrance to the center, but for two years this promise was never fulfilled. The situation in Sevastopol is aggravated by a sharply increased number of cars and constant traffic jams.

Let us recall that on February 23, 2014, a People’s Will Rally took place on Nakhimov Square, with which the Russian Spring began.
