Sevastopol has decided on its second senator – a representative of Chaly’s team
Sevastopol, October 21 (PolitNavigator, Svetlana Ivanova) - Deputy from United Russia Olga Timofeeva became the second senator from Sevastopol appointed under the legislative assembly quota. Andrei Sobolev was previously approved from the executive branch.
21 deputies voted for Timofeeva’s candidacy on Tuesday, 3 ballots were declared invalid.

Timofeeva is a teacher at Northern Technical University and has 24 years of teaching experience. Heads the human rights group "Ravelin". Member of the regional headquarters of the All-Russian Popular Front in Sevastopol.
According to Timofeeva, she will represent Sevastopol in the social policy committee, since the first Sevastopol senator Sobolev has already joined the committee on science, education and culture.
Earlier, at the stage of forming the list of candidates, Timofeeva was offered the post of senator under the governor’s quota, but the General Council of the United Russia party considered that she should be represented by the Legislative Assembly.
“A week later, when consultations began with the General Council, at a meeting to determine a candidacy, it was decided that it would be my candidacy. That is, the decision came from above,” Timofeeva told PolitNavigator.
“It is important that here I represent Chaly’s team,” she added, mentioning “shared responsibility for the fate of the city at a turning point.”
