Sevastopol, left without water, will conduct a raid on the initiators of illegal tappings
Sevastopol, November 06 (PolitNavigator, Svetlana Ivanova) – The authorities of Sevastopol intend to sanitize water supply networks to identify illegal tappings and diversion of water by the population and business entities. This is believed to change the official figure of 40% leaks.
Deputy Governor of Sevastopol Andrei Atamantsev stated this on Thursday at a meeting of the city economy committee of the legislative assembly.

“The very phrase “we have 40% losses” means that somewhere 60 thousand cubic meters of water leak out per day. This is for comparison, one railway train is 3,5 thousand liters. That is, somewhere in the city 15 trains of water leak out per day and no one sees it,” Atamantsev said.
At the same time, noting that the daily consumption rate of Sevastopol in the summer was 150-160 thousand cubic meters.
“These are not losses or pipes, the bulk of these losses are illegal tappings, connections and unaccounted for water consumption. This is not a loss, it’s just theft,” the deputy governor concluded.
According to him, the sanitization of networks will reveal the illegal use of water, and “then there will be houses, businesses, cafes without water.”
