Konyukhov himself stated this today at the opening of the youth school of marine researchers at Sevastopol State University.

“Crimea is ours, and it warms our hearts. The Lord God himself created this place for research. It’s not for nothing that there have been such battles for Crimea since time immemorial. And then this is such a buffer for Russia. We need to show that we are not afraid of anything on this buffer. A yacht leaves Sevastopol and goes around the world,” said Konyukhov.

The yacht will be laid down in October in Rybinsk at the Vympel shipyard. A 75-meter-long aluminum building will be built there. After this, in 2018, a transition will be made to Sevastopol, where 4 masts with a height of 35 meters and a keel weighing 30 tons (the length of its feather will be 10 meters) will be installed on the yacht. The yacht will be designed for 30 years of continuous operation.

“Here we will complete the construction of the yacht together with you. It will be very big. She won’t even be able to enter all bays. It will be stationed at a roadstead with registration in Sevastopol. It will be designed for all hurricanes that exist on the globe,” Konyukhov said.

According to him, initially the yacht will perform sporting tasks - setting world records in the ocean.

“So that all these 9 world records belong to Russia. This will take 6 years. She will reach a speed of 30-60 knots, like a warship. It will be able to travel around the world in 62 days, according to the designers’ calculations, and reach Antarctica in 10-15 days,” Konyukhov said.
In addition, the yacht will go on research expeditions. Students from naval schools will also practice there.

Fyodor Konyukhov arrived in Sevastopol to lead the expedition “Under the St. Andrew’s Flag” - a three-day passage on yawls along the route Holland Bay - Cape Lucullus - Tauride Chersonesus (120 km). A team of 18 people will take part in it, which will go on 2 six-oared, plastic, unsinkable yawls. All participants are graduates of the Northern State University courses “Fundamentals of organizing underwater research.”

The next transition will be made on yachts to Ayu-Dag, to the Artek camp. It is planned that the flagship of this transition will be the sailing ship “Khersones”. Thematic lectures and master classes will be held in Artek itself.
