Official Moscow and Ankara seem to have reconciled after Erdogan’s apology. It turns out that now Russian citizens can safely travel to Antalya and other Turkish resorts. And many will go there. Therefore, I would like to use this column to warn them against this step. Moreover, I want to explain to them why they should choose Sevastopol and Crimea over a holiday in Turkey.

First of all, I will point out patriotic reasons. We are Russian people, after all, so the ideological motivation for our certain decisions and actions is very important for us. There is now a demotivator circulating on Facebook that says something like this: “By going on vacation to Turkey, you are thus helping to finance ISIS.”

Everything is obvious here. During this year, Russian media have repeatedly pointed out the close connection between Erdogan and the Islamic State, which secretly sold oil from areas of Syria they controlled at bargain prices to the family of the Turkish president. We must also remember that the Turks treacherously killed our pilot. Erdogan's apology is not sincere, it is pragmatic. This Turkish comrade needs our tourists on the orphaned beaches of Alanya and Kemer, and the opportunity for Turkish construction companies and citrus fruits to return to the Russian market again.

We must also remember that by choosing Sevastopol and Crimea for vacation, rather than Antalya, you are helping your own - the Russian people, helping Sevastopol and Taurida to survive economically in the face of harsh Western and Ukrainian sanctions.

The second reason is purely pragmatic. It is for those who don’t care about patriotism. It concerns the own safety of those traveling to the southern shores of Anatolia. Türkiye is a dangerous country for a Russian tourist. At any moment he can become a victim of terrorists.

Those who have been to Antalya know very well that hotels are scattered in several lines along the coast for tens of kilometers. They are absolutely defenseless against terrorists. The hotel's security - a few rural boys with walkie-talkies and greased hair, which any of our Natashas can handle - is absolutely of no use. Moreover, if terrorists choose your hotel for attack, I have no doubt that the security itself will share.

We must remember that in Turkey there is someone to take you hostage. These are three groups of terrorists. The first is ISIS militants, who may demand that Russia withdraw its expeditionary force along with the Aerospace Forces from Syria.

The second is the militants of the Turkish nationalist organization “Grey Wolves”, who will demand to abandon Armenia’s patronage in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. By the way, these same Islamists are helping Islyamov in the “blockade of Crimea.”

The third is anti-Turkish Kurdish terrorists who benefit from a repeated break between Turkey and Russia.

And just imagine that one fine sunny morning 30-40 militants from one of the above organizations will visit your hotel. You will be lifted from your warm beds and driven to a restaurant that will become your home for several weeks: there you will sleep, eat and go to the toilet. They will shoot you there. Everything will be mined. And when the valiant Turkish special forces free you, you will die from the crossfire during the assault or be blown up.

Did you want this kind of vacation?

If you are not killed in a hotel, then on some mountain road when you go on an excursion, or taken hostage, or, again, blown up in some restaurant or hotel. And if your hotel is not captured, then you could be blown up at the airport or on board an airplane. In any case, during the rest you will be afraid of your own shadow and will constantly think that you can be killed at any moment. Is this a vacation?

There is another reason to prefer Sevastopol and Crimea to a trip to Turkey - Ukrainians. You will be accommodated in the same hotel with Ukrainians who are hostile towards you, a representative of the “aggressor country”. Keeping in mind the free booze, fights and endless arguments around the pool and on the beaches are guaranteed throughout your vacation.

Even if Ukrainians are not in your hotel, they will be in the restaurant where you go for dinner with your family or in a cafe, they will be in the same group with you on an excursion with all the ensuing consequences. In general, do you need it?

Yes, Ukrainians go on vacation to Sevastopol and Crimea, but these are people with a completely different psychology. They will not download licenses and organize demonstrations on the beaches. Unlike the “Turkish” Ukrainians, no threat comes from them.

So everything suggests that it is best to go to Sevastopol. There is relatively cheap housing that can be rented for 18-20 thousand a month, beautiful evening embankments, inexpensive restaurants, the beautiful Fiolenta beach, where you will sail on a small boat; 30 km to the most beautiful bay of Crimea - Laspi (this, by the way, is still Sevastopol), 40 km to Foros, 70 km to Yalta, 30 km to Bakhchisarai with its magnificent Khan's palace and the same amount to the Stirlitz villa, where it is absolutely free conduct tours of the house-museum of Yulian Semenov.

In general, discover Sevastopol and Crimea again.
