Sevastopol failed work on the religious tourism program in Crimea
The new leadership of Sevastopol has withdrawn from working with the Crimean authorities to develop a concept for the development of religious tourism and pilgrimage on the peninsula. Senator from Crimea Sergei Tsekov stated this today at a press conference in Moscow.

“We began our work on developing the concept with the Sevastopol administration. They accepted this idea, and at the first stage the work was very substantive. It’s just that then there was a change in the administration of Sevastopol, and the work was carried out only by Crimeans. But we understand perfectly well that we must develop this serious area of work together,” Tsekov said.
According to the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of Crimea, there are more than 600 pilgrimage sites in the region. In 2015, a working group was created, which included religious figures, to resolve issues of pilgrimage development. Now Crimea can offer believers tours for one or several days. In addition, special trips are provided for Orthodox Christians at Christmas and Easter.
