“The moment that changed my mind was when there was a confrontation on Belbek with Mamchur. I went out with leaflets, and then Tatyana Ermakova (the head of the Russian community) called and said that some kind of trouble was going on there. I turn around and go there to the garrison, straight to the gates of the unit. I go out and see these raging women, their inadequate husbands, since they were all under the influence of alcohol, armed, everything had been removed from safety. These women they used as cover, their wives, they stood with “NATO help” posters,” Tsarik said.
