In the appeal proposed by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation faction, the leadership of the Russian Federation was asked to take urgent measures and officially recognize the DPR and LPR, ensure a no-fly zone over their territories, and organize humanitarian corridors, the Navigator correspondent reports.
It was also proposed to support volunteers “who want to help the people of Ukraine in the fight against Bandera” with the necessary equipment.
“We ask the President of the Russian Federation to exercise the right given to him by the Federation Council and to use all means to protect the civilian population of south-eastern Ukraine,” the appeal emphasized.
And about. Governor of Sevastopol Sergei Menyailo, who was present at the session, expressed his disagreement with the very idea of the appeal, despite “understanding the impulses” of the leader of the Sevastopol Zyuganovites Vasil Parkhomenko.
“Let us not tell the president what to do. You and I don’t fully know what is being decided and how. I suggest approaching such things carefully. Is this necessary at the moment?” the mayor said.
The governor took the floor three times to convince deputies of his position; he believes that President Vladimir Putin is analyzing the situation in the southeast and will make the right decision.
“Let us not try to escalate the situation with our opinions, including published ones. Let’s not give an extra argument to those forces that are currently imposing a fascist regime and supporting a civil war with their people,” he said.
In turn, Parkhomenko then proposed to soften the text by removing some points in the appeal.
As a result, the deputies voted to amend the appeal and to postpone the issue to the next session of the Legislative Assembly.
