Sevastopol markets will be checked every day - Menyailo
Sevastopol, August 29 (Navigator, Alexander Kononov) – Acting Governor Sergei Menyailo, at a meeting with directors of Sevastopol markets, criticized the practice of exceeding permissible markups and promised comprehensive checks. Measures against violators, he said, will be tough.

Having not received a response from the director of the Yumashevsky market on monitoring prices and specific markups on the market, Menyailo said that he did not trust their monitoring, because he had his own data on this matter.
“If you think that your price monitoring is believed, then you are deeply mistaken. We are rechecking. We will assign tasks to the control authorities to go and check. And if illegal or inexplicable price increases are discovered somewhere, friends, then appropriate measures will be taken,” Menyailo threatened.
According to him, in some cases the markup reaches 40%, although he is sure that 15% will be enough to cover the costs. This is the maximum allowable markup for essential products.
“Rospotrebnadzor and Consumer Rights Protection will look at invoices, raising the initial purchase price, and look at what is available at a markup. The rest average from 15 to 25 percent. But there is only one requirement: we have set a maximum markup of 15% for essential products. This is already enough to justify their costs to those people who buy products and resell them,” said the head of Sevastopol.
Prices in the markets, he said, will be monitored daily so that they become approximately the same everywhere. For this purpose, a unified market management will be created in order to make control centralized.
“Our markets are their own state within a state. This will not happen. Starting from the sanitary condition and ending with the pricing policy. Now there will be checks: who trades, how they trade, taxes are paid - not paid, legally - illegally, intermediary - not an intermediary, wholesaler - not a wholesaler, manufacturer - not a manufacturer, etc.” - promised Menyailo.
“And we will bring our producers to our markets. Give them priority in this matter,” he added.
“The deadline for everything, the next trip to the markets is tomorrow. And give me a report on the reaction. And so every day."
