A Sevastopol cosmonaut helped two actors get to the ISS for the first time
A spaceship carrying the world's first film crew docked to the ISS today.
A native of Sevastopol, cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov had to dock manually, because... There were problems with the automation.
This flight is unique in that the commander controlled the Soyuz alone, without the help of flight engineers, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
But the crew includes Actress Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko. They will stay on the ISS for 12 days and film the movie “The Challenge.” A film about a woman doctor who flies into orbit to save the life of an astronaut. For the first time in the history of feature cinematography, filming will take place outside of planet Earth.
The Soyuz-2.1a rocket successfully launched in the morning from Baikonur.
“What happens, Peresild is the first actress in the world to act in outer space? That is, she just went down into history?”, the scandalous TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak envied the actress in her Telegram channel.
"Super! A new world is coming of non-professional space flights. Once upon a time, only professionals flew airplanes. And now everyone is willing – and there are millions of willing ones. After some time, we will fly into space quickly and cheaply. Rogozin and Musk are great!” said political scientist Sergei Markov.
