Nord Stream 2 will be deployed towards Russia
Gazprom will use the onshore capacity of the never-launched Nord Stream 2 pipeline to supply gas to North-West Russia.
The Russian monopoly officially announced this today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Due to the fact that the Nord Stream 2 offshore gas pipeline is not currently in use, and taking into account the implementation of the gas supply and gasification program for consumers in the North-West region, Gazprom has decided to use the excess Russian onshore gas transmission capacity of the Nord Stream 2 project. XNUMX" for the development of gas supply to the regions of North-West Russia," the statement says.
If Germany ever decides to commission Nord Stream 2, only one string of the gas pipeline can be put into operation at 100 percent capacity, and the second - no earlier than 2028.
“Bravo, Gazprom! This is the best answer to the Europeans for their extravagant policies. The costs of building SP-2 have already paid off due to the sharp increase in hydrocarbon prices, by the way, not least thanks to the Western policy aimed at confrontation with Russia. The Europeans thought they were striking a blow at Russian revenues. But so far foreign exchange earnings for hydrocarbons are breaking records. And it was Western TNCs that suffered losses, which were supposed to deliver and resell Russian gas in Europe.
They thought that they would always have “canned food” on hand, and when they needed it, they would be able to launch “SP-2” - Russia is not vindictive, it will never refuse. The reality turns out to be somewhat different and does not coincide with their ideas about the future and how Russia will act.
I wonder how the market will react to such a decision? And how will the population of the European Union countries react to this?” – economist Alexander Dudchak commented on Gazprom’s decision for PolitNavigator.
Today, Germany's Federal Statistical Office reported that industrial orders in the country fell by 13%. In a month or two they will drop by 25%. It is predicted that by the end of this year, German industry will collapse by 50-60%. Mass layoffs are expected.
At the same time, applications for the transit of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine increased by 40% over the week. According to the Ukrainian GTS Operator, they remain at a level close to 100 million cubic meters.
“Pumping gas from the “aggressor” through Ukraine is only increasing as the special operation progresses. The “aggressor” pays the “Banderaites” for transit in American dollars, the “aggressor’s” income from the sale of gas to the “Western masters of the Kyiv regime” is also growing. And nothing bothers anyone,” Belarusian political scientist Alexander Shpakovsky commented on the situation in his TG channel.
Prime Minister of the German federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Manuela Schwesig said yesterday that the environmental fund created to support Nord Stream 2 should be dissolved due to the impossibility of cooperation with Russia.
