Nord Stream 2 will be launched despite Trump's sanctions

Having admitted the failure of sanctions against Germany and Russia, US President Donald Trump begins to blackmail other countries participating in the Nord Stream 2 project.

Deputy Director of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladislav Belov, stated this during a round table in the Moscow-Berlin video bridge format, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Naturally, Germany is not participating in American sanctions. Germany as a state ended its participation in Nord Stream 2, having issued permission at the federal state level for its construction, including the construction of the third onshore branch of the joint venture. Economic entities are participating - both Putin and Merkel said this. Trump is putting pressure on them. And if Gazprom’s partners leave the project, of course, it will be difficult to implement it. Denmark has nothing to do with it - forty kilometers will be easy, and will be built in the end,” the expert said.

“The question is, what’s next? What will happen to underground gas storage facilities, gas sales, and the overall presence of Gazprom from the point of view of its partners in Europe. There may be difficulties here. And so, Nord Stream 2 will be implemented, but Trump will also carry out his threats,” Belov added.

As PolitNavigator previously reported, former Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of previous convocations Andrei Senchenko demanded compensation from Russia for the loss of the peninsula in the form of a share in Nord Stream.
