“Now people carefully protect this house as it stands: burnt, with destroyed elements. They protect it - and they do it right. After all, some hotheads want to start repair work right away. But why? Even from the first estimates, it is clear that the building’s structures, floors, columns, and crossbars are severely damaged. The fire has done its job, and there is no need to talk about repairs here. There is a serious problem in the case of reconstruction in the form in which the house remains,” he said in an interview with Reporter magazine.
The architect explained that the situation is complicated by groundwater - the House of Trade Unions stands on the site of the former Goat Swamp.
“The right thing to do would be to demolish this building, install a pile foundation, underground levels, increase the pitch of the structure and building, and thereby, without changing the height, get an increased area,” Tselovalnik suggests.
