The sabbath of nationalists is burying Ukraine’s chances of getting into the UN Human Rights Council

The new education law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, which provides for the closure of Russian, Hungarian, Bulgarian and Romanian schools, may become a reason for Ukraine not to be admitted to the UN Human Rights Council.

Political scientist Denis Kiryukhin stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Recently, Ukraine’s permanent representative to the UN, Vladimir Yelchenko, said that Kyiv is counting on participating in the elections to the UN Human Rights Council. Our deputies again “helped” our diplomats with this. Against the backdrop of how Ukraine has now been accused of violating human rights (this obviously exists with language rights, this contradicts a number of international obligations that Ukraine has undertaken by joining European legal institutions).

It would be nice for us to take this place (at the Human Rights Council), given the problem of Donbass and Crimea, if our deputies had not “helped,” complains the Ukrainian political scientist.
