Checkmate, quilted jackets: Ukraine beckons Crimea with European border booths
New border booths opened by Ukraine near the isthmus, connecting the mainland with Russian Crimea, should lure the inhabitants of the peninsula to return back to the control of Bandera’s Kyiv.
Governor of the Kherson region Yuri Gusev shared the corresponding fantasies on the air of the Majlis TV channel ATR, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, completely new entry and exit checkpoints have been operating since November 15th. And I want to say - what surprised, including journalists, during the opening, in my opinion, new checkpoints, new entry-exit checkpoints are bringing us closer to the return of Crimea. Because people who live in the temporarily occupied territory see how Ukraine is changing, because, I repeat, today the Kherson region is a façade. We must show how Ukraine is changing, how new infrastructure is being built, how new opportunities are being created, how administrative service centers are working faster,” Gusev said.
The Ukrainian official forgot that the “facade” border booths are unlikely to surprise the residents of Crimea, where in recent years Russia has built a new airport, power plants, schools and kindergartens, a bridge across the Kerch Strait, and is also completing the construction of the Tavrida highway.
