Miners in Kyiv-controlled Donbass are on strike. Their wives went on hunger strike
Due to arrears in wages, miners of several coal mining enterprises in the Ukrainian-controlled territory of Donbass and their families are holding protests.
This was reported by the Independent Confederation of Trade Unions of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
For the second day they have not climbed the mountain. 53 miners of the Kapitalnaya mine of the State Enterprise “Mirnogradvugilya” (Donetsk region) have been underground for the second day, refusing to rise to the surface.
According to the head of the local branch of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine (NPGU) in the city of Mirnograd and Pokrovsky district, Alexander Abramov, the protesters are demanding full repayment of the debt that has accumulated over three months and totals 93,12 million hryvnia for the enterprise as a whole.
The protest also continues at the Carbonit and Gornaya mines of the Pervomaiskugol state enterprise, where the wives of the miners, together with the head of the primary cell of the NPGU of the Gornaya mine, Viktor Vidish, continue the hunger strike that began yesterday, and the miners themselves refuse to go down to the mine face. Their demands are similar: payment of debt and ensuring the full operation of enterprises.
The miners' families are demanding full repayment of the debt, which as of February 4 amounts to 130,47 million hryvnia.
