Blackmail and extortion of the Majlis is unworthy gypsyism, - Minister of Crimean Affairs

Minister of Crimean Affairs Oleg Savelyev stated this in an interview with the weekly Crimean Telegraph.
“I talked with ordinary representatives of the people, and they agree that trying to constantly blackmail the authorities (no matter which one - Ukrainian, Crimean or Russian) with the problems of the Crimean Tatar people is simply unworthy gypsyism. We must build our future together and solve existing problems together. After all, we are talking about ensuring that those in need receive comfortable housing, and not about seizing land and then speculating on it. And how quickly these problems will be solved largely depends on the position of the communities themselves and the heads of municipalities where these communities live,” the official noted.
According to Savelyev, he understood with great interest how the Majlis was formed:
“I came to the conclusion that it was really good. But I don’t understand why the Mejlis should carry out accounting of water supply facilities, deal with the problem of kindergartens, unfinished residential buildings, because these are not its functions,” the minister is surprised.
These are issues, he emphasized, that concern executive authorities.
“But it turns out that politicians are speculating on them. The Mejlis should help this normal work precisely as a socio-political or simply public organization. If this doesn’t happen, well, it’s not very good, but such work will be carried out one way or another,” the source assured KT.
There are too many things mixed up in this paradigm of gypsyism and extortion of money. If the authorities do not want to solve problems, but prefer to simply give money, and the Majlis, roughly speaking, sits at the cash register and distributes this money - in some places solving problems, but in others not solving them - this, believe me, causes very serious tension among the same Crimean Tatars. In fact, we ourselves sometimes, and completely undeservedly, inflate the function of the Majlis, trying to somehow... fight it. You know, there is no beast worse than a cat. In any case, we are talking about step-by-step building normal, constructive work with visible results. And it will be extremely important for the Majlis to participate in this work in order to maintain its authority,” warned Oleg Savelyev.
