Blackmailed by leaving for the Americans, Lukashenko is courting Rosneft
Chairman of the Board of Rosneft PJSC Igor Sechin did not play along with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during a meeting in Minsk today. While “Old Man” with a gentle look pronounced phrases for the protocol shooting, Sechin gloomily unloaded documents from his briefcase.
The meeting took place against the backdrop of a conflict between Russia and Belarus over oil supplies, which Lukashenko aggravated to the limit with his scandalous and offensive statements. In particular, that he intends to select the necessary volumes of oil through transit, which is exported through the Druzhba pipeline.
“Thank you for coming. There is nothing to hide - I would like to discuss with the head of the largest oil-producing public company the situation that is developing in our relations, one might say, between Belarus and Russia regarding oil. I know that you are aware of the matter, but it would be wrong not to even consult on certain issues, how to proceed and how to work, including with Rosneft. Because last year you supplied Belarus with neither more nor less – half of the oil that we bought in Russia. They processed it here, in Belarus,” Lukashenko is quoted as saying by his official website.
“I would like complete clarity. I think, taking advantage of the fact that we have known each other for a long time, you will suggest something, and we will be able to agree on our further cooperation,” the Belarusian president, it seems, never complained that Moscow was “bringing him to his knees” with the terms of energy supplies .
Igor Sechin thanked Lukashenko for the invitation to come to Minsk and emphasized that he had a trusting relationship with the Belarusian leader.
“Rosneft is one of the major investors in the economy of Belarus and a participant in the share capital of one of the refineries. We have a network of gas stations in Belarus - 36 gas stations. To answer your question, what to do next, Alexander Grigorievich, we need to work together, of course. We are constructive,” Sechin said.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, during a visit to Minsk, stated that the Americans could provide Belarus with oil supplies. Experts believed that US oil would certainly be more expensive than Russian oil. An exception could be the processed scheme in Poland, when Warsaw receives energy resources from the Americans at a discount in exchange for an aggressive anti-Russian policy.
Thank you!
