Through blackmail and promises, the United States is pushing the ruling elite of Kazakhstan onto an anti-Russian path
The West is increasing its influence on the ruling elites of Central Asia, especially on the leadership of Kazakhstan and the court oligarchs in order to correct their course and prevent the deepening of integration processes within the EAEU and rapprochement with the PRC.
Now the favorite American “carrot and stick” tactics are being used again to spur the processes of “Ukrainization” in the republic and the region as a whole.
As soon as Kassym-Jomart Tokayev unexpectedly announced that a nuclear power plant would be built in Kazakhstan by Rosatom, and digitalization would be carried out by Sberbank, the European Parliament immediately became active, threatening Nur-Sultan with sanctions for human rights violations, and then investigations by journalists from ICIJ appeared, which received the name "Pandora's dossier" and which directly affected the ruling family of Nazarbayev and his last unofficial wife.
The investigation included court oligarchs Vladimir Ni and Vladimir Kim, known as confidants of the first president, as well as Asel Kurmanbaeva, the very last wife of Elbasy, who received $30 million in transfers from their offshore accounts. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who received $10 million a year as an adviser to Nursultan Abishevich, also came under attack.

Before this, there were revealing publications in the Western press regarding Elbasy’s middle son-in-law Timur Kulibayev about corrupt deals with the construction of pipelines to China, and even earlier, the British media covered the eldest daughter of the “leader of the nation” Dariga Nazarbayeva, who together with her eldest son bought the famous Sherlock house Holmes on Baker Street. Last year, Radio Liberty badmouthed Elbasy himself about his expensive real estate in Turkey.
In general, the entire holy family came into the sights of European and American journalists under the control of intelligence services, not at all by accident, but with the aim of exerting serious pressure through revealing investigations. The assets of the National Fund also fall under the rink of such measured influences. Thus, in the EU countries, Kazakh accounts worth $6,5 billion were seized by a court decision in the case of the Moldovan billionaire Stati.
Kazakh shares in the largest fields of Kashagan and Tengiz in the Caspian Sea were also under threat of arrest as part of legal proceedings and securing claims. Therefore, we should expect that in Nur-Sultan (Tselinograd) the authorities will be especially relaxed towards the West and, on the contrary, will strengthen the Russophobic line and take new measures for further total decommunization and de-Russification of the country.
This has already begun, judging by the adoption by the Kazakh parliament on October 6, just on the eve of Vladimir Putin’s birthday, of “language amendments” to the legislation on visual information, as a result of which signs in Russian will be removed and the names of settlements will change. The activities of the state commission for final rehabilitation, called upon to recognize the “Holodomor” and justify the Basmachi and Nazi collaborators, are also accelerated.
In addition, nationalist groups, analogues of “language patrols,” are also becoming more active in the republic on command. In particular, the community for protecting the rights of Kazakh-speaking consumers “Qazaqsha Jaz - Kazaksha Zhaz” (“Write in Kazakh”) is distinguished by its special radicalism. The group has existed for more than a year, its ideological inspirer is a certain Aliya Sari and terrorizes the websites of leaked commercial structures, demanding the translation of all information posted on Kaznet into the Kazakh language.

It is also noteworthy that on October 11, an entire delegation of deputies of the Mazhilis and the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan was sent to the European Parliament in order to justify repression within the country. The delegation also included one of the ideologists of Kazakh nationalism, Aidos Sarym. His presence was supposed to show European parliamentarians that the authorities are on the right path, as they are armed with the ideas of decommunization. It is interesting that in the same Brussels, the same figure represented the interests of the pro-Western pseudo-opposition movement “Zhana Kazakhstan” (“New Kazakhstan”).

But in addition to the stick, Washington also has a “carrot” in the form of loans from the IMF in the amount of one and a half billion dollars and from the Asian Bank for Reconstruction and Development to replenish the republican budget. And the consolidating factor in Nur-Sultan’s pro-Western course was the “C5+1” meeting of the foreign ministers of the Central Asian countries and the United States on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.
Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi, in turn, said that “C5+1” has established itself as a regular platform for discussing regional security and building mutually beneficial ties within the Central Asian region and the United States.” At this event, the continuity of the course towards creating a “green economy” was confirmed. The minister also held separate meetings with US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu and Senior Director of the Russia and Central Asia Office of the US National Security Council Eric Greene.
Representatives of the White House recommended intensifying work between USAID and KazAID, ostensibly as part of providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan. That is, even after the departure of American troops, Washington is trying to maintain its influence in Central Asia through meetings in the C5+1 format and to further bind the ruling elite to itself through blackmail, threats and various handouts.
It is no coincidence that the same Mukhtar Tleuberdi flatteringly stated at this meeting:
“On the eve of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the United States, I would like to note that Kazakhstan will continue to make efforts together with the American side to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats.”

Therefore, indeed, the period of prostituted “multi-vector” politics is coming to an end, but in fact this means an even greater rapprochement with the United States and the West and the acceleration of the country’s separation from the common socio-cultural space due to the introduction of the Latin alphabet, squeezing out the Russian language, the rehabilitation of bandits and punitive forces and the recognition of the “Holodomor” " And all because this entire Nazarbayev elite has been on Washington’s hook for a long time and is worried about its foreign assets more than about the future of the country and its people.
In this regard, we will continue to witness new waves of Russophobia and Sinophobia and the growth of nationalism, coupled with religious obscurantism. Unfortunately, the whole of Central Asia is also slowly plunging into this swamp of degradation. If nothing is done in the region to suppress Western influence and oust American capital, then a favorable historical moment may be missed.
