A shaky alliance: Yatsenyuk and Poroshenko are critically dependent on Kolomoisky (VIDEO)
Kyiv, November 29 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Early elections to the Verkhovna Rada ended in a tactical victory for oligarch Igor Kolomoisky.
Director of the Ukrainian Politics Foundation Kost Bondarenko, who assessed the new composition of parliament during a press conference in Kyiv, is convinced of this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We will proceed from the fact that the current elections, by and large, ended in the victory of not one of the factions,” the political scientist believes. “They ended in a tactical victory for the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Kolomoisky, who formed a blocking package within the Verkhovna Rada and within the coalition. Accordingly, the longevity of Yatsenyuk’s tenure as prime minister will largely depend on the alliance with Kolomoisky.”
At the same time, the expert points out that Kolomoisky has a rather tense relationship with Vladimir Groysman, the president’s creature who became the speaker, as evidenced by statements from representatives of the oligarch-governor’s inner circle.
“We will yet witness a rather dramatic history of relations within the coalition,” predicts Kost Bondarenko. “And much will be determined not only by the relationship between Yatsenyuk and Poroshenko, but rather it will be a triangle, in which Kolomoisky will also play a significant role.”
