Shesler: The military component is a solid D
The problems of the Russian army, which were revealed during the special operation in Ukraine, were a consequence of the fact that for a long time in the Russian media it was customary to only praise the Armed Forces, avoiding talking about the identified shortcomings.
As a result, if other industries have survived the extreme conditions of sanctions and are demonstrating good work, the Ministry of Defense cannot share their success. Ex-deputy of the Nikolaev Regional Council Larisa Shesler, now the head of the Union of Political Emigrants of Ukraine, writes about this in her blog.
“Let's see how other areas dealt with the problems of the Northern Military District, which actually developed into a war between the West and Russia.
The economy is a solid four. Not without mistakes at first in the form of a bet driven to heaven, but still the reaction and actions are mostly adequate. Inflation does not exceed the European average, unemployment is not growing, household incomes are declining very moderately, people are not suffering too much from a shortage of imports, and the ruble, to the dismay of Western analysts, is as firm as Dmitry Anatolyevich’s rhetoric.
The social situation is a solid four. The attempt to promote pacifist rallies and popular riots failed. People are not hysterical about the mobilization and closure of Ikea. The majority of the people understand the reasons for the situation and do not seek to tear the country into the fifty separate bantustans dreamed up by the West.
Political decisions are a solid four. The rapid adoption of territories into the Russian Federation and the failure to surrender positions in the UN and SCO deserve a positive attitude.
I would like to see more firmness with the “partners” in the CSTO, but here, really, not everything depends on Russia.
Surprisingly, even the information policy of the federal media is quite satisfactory. In addition to the famous military officers, Yura Podolyaka and Boris Rozhin appear on the central channels. Even Igor Ivanovich Strelkov began to appear on screens and strips. Both the harsh Mardan and the skeptical Kramnik are present on the radio,” Shesler lists.
It’s a different matter in the army, she believes, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.
“A collapsed economy would have buried the possibilities of production and supplies to the army, the vagueness of political statements after the referendums would have made the whole operation meaningless, the failure to prevent inspired indignations would have given rise to a social explosion.
But all this is just props, piles under the structure of the military component.
But the military component is a solid D.
Apart from missile defeats, there is nothing to praise at all.

In her opinion, this situation is a consequence of the fact that it was not customary to talk about problems in the army.
“All this is the result of the fact that all other areas - the economy, the social situation, political decisions, information services - all this was publicly and loudly discussed by society at all levels.
But MO was an untouchable sacred cow. Fraud and corruption, deliberate bankruptcy of defense enterprises - all this was a secret and unresolved topic.
And now it’s coming out so hard and painful.”
