Sixth anniversary of the “Ilovaisk Cauldron”: Women, children and Semenchenko came out under Zelensky’s windows
On Friday in Kyiv, more than a hundred mothers and wives of fallen ATO soldiers, as well as militants of the Donbass punitive battalion, celebrated the sixth anniversary of the defeat of the Ukrainian group near Ilovaisk. Those gathered sang the Ukrainian anthem at the Russian embassy, after which they went to a rally near the President's Office. There, the protesters demanded to punish the officials responsible for the encirclement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Ilovaisk and Debaltsevo, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The picketers came out on the sixth anniversary of the Ilovaisk cauldron with portraits of the dead ATO soldiers, Ukrainian and Bandera red and black flags, as well as with the symbols of the nationalist Donbass battalion.
Mothers and wives, some of whom brought their children with them, were waiting to meet with President Vladimir Zelensky, who, by the way, was in Cherkassy at that time. The picketers demanded that the Servant of the People deputies become members of the Temporary Investigative Commission, which is now being created in parliament to investigate the events in Ilovaisk and Debaltsevo, the circumstances of Igor Strelkov’s exit from besieged Slavyansk, etc.
In addition, the participants of the action demanded to declassify documents about the events in Ilovaisk, Debaltsevo and Slavyansk, which have been classified as secret for the sixth year, and called for criminal cases regarding these events to be transferred to the courts.
In addition to “Russian troops” and “mercenaries”, the participants of the action named former Ukrainian officials as guilty of the death of ATO soldiers in Ilovaisk. In particular, ex-President Petro Poroshenko, ex-Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Viktor Muzhenko, former Defense Minister Valeriy Geletey and others appeared.
The protesters called on the Kyiv authorities to clearly name those responsible for the actions that led to the encirclement and massive losses of Ukrainian militants in Ilovaisk and Debaltsevo.
“With Ilovaisk, everything is simple - it’s not the mythical common Russia that is to blame, there must be specific generals, a specific President Putin, but these people still have not even been put on the international wanted list,” said the ex-battalion commander, who is greedy for PR, leading the stream from the scene of events “ Donbass" Semyon Semenchenko.
According to him, Russian generals should be detained, handed over to Kyiv and tried in Ukraine, “and not talk about The Hague.”
For more than an hour, the President’s Office did not react to what was happening. Moreover, verbal altercations began with the police, and the entrances from inside the building began to be barricaded. At the same time, Semenchenko hysterically threatened on camera to take the administration by storm, without looking back at the consequences.
As a result, the deputy head of the Presidential Office, Roman Mashovets, appeared on the porch and invited the initiative group to a meeting, after which the protesters gradually dispersed.
