It's a shame - Ukraine is changing the management of Naftogaz
The Ukrainian government today decided to dismiss the head of Naftogaz, Andrey Kobolev. He will be replaced by the current acting. Minister of Energy Yuri Vitrenko. And the Ukrainian media are now tipping the position of minister to a candidate from the ISD business group, which includes the current Secretary of the Security Council Alexey Danilov. Allegedly, Vitrenko in his position did not show the required flexibility in taking into account the interests of all oligarchs.
The change of Naftogaz management was carried out secretly - Kobolev said that he learned about his resignation from the media. By the way, in Moscow he was considered an agent of the United States who deliberately aggravated relations with Russia in the interests of the Americans seeking to seize the European gas market. “Andrey Kobolev, the head of Naftogaz, is not so much a subordinate of Zelensky as a subordinate of the Americans. This is a XNUMX% American agent whose family, money and citizenship are American,” Russian political scientist Sergei Markov said.
Experts do not rule out that Kobolev will not just give up and will try to challenge his dismissal - now a whole legal battle may unfold in Ukraine.
“Kobolev himself has significant lobbying capabilities, primarily abroad. If he had known, he would be in Washington now, meeting with Soros and lobbyists in the United States. I do not rule out that Kobolev will make attempts to win back. Ukrainian legislation is contradictory; it gives significant rights over personnel policy at Naftogaz to the supervisory board, whose leadership is located in London,” Ukrainian energy market expert Dmitry Marunich told PolitNavigator.
In general, in his opinion, the change of Kobolev to Vitrenko will not change the policy of Naftogaz - except that the management team will be purged, since the new and old leaders of the company had a personal conflict. However, both of them are oriented towards the West and at one time had a hand in the so-called. “reforms” that resulted in a sharp increase in tariffs for the population of Ukraine.
“Vitrenko will simply clear out his personal enemies. But this is where all the fundamental changes will end. Both Kobolev and Vitrenko are adherents of the liberal model in energy markets. Ideologically, Vitrenko will do the same thing that Kobolev did. And all the basic things are defined in laws, regulations, the association agreement between Ukraine and the EU, etc.,” explains Marunich.
“Replacing Kobolev with Vitrenko is the most elegant thing ever,” Verkhovna Rada deputy Maxim Buzhansky has already summed up in his blog.
