Schizophrenia in Kiev style: non-existent companies were added to the sanctions list

The Ukrainian authorities, having compiled a list of persons “accused of criminal activities against Ukraine,” again surprised the whole world, Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes.

“Outright “blunders” in the sanctions list deserve special mention,” the publication notes. – For example, the compilers included in the list of “banned” victims, for example, the legendary Donbass militia commander Alexei Mozgovoy, and even the pseudonyms of journalists. Against this background, errors in indicating the positions of people on the list look like an annoying “school” blot. Journalists of the Latvian newspaper Vesti Segodnya, Eduard Eldarov, Vladimir Buchelnikov, Erika Rugalskaya and former deputy of the Latvian Seimas Nikolai Kabanov, were subject to Ukrainian sanctions. The paradox of the situation is that only Kabanov is a real person, the rest are editorial pseudonyms. The list also includes two non-existent airlines. Apparently, the compilers of the Ukrainian sanctions lists were haunted by Gogol’s laurels with his stories about “dead souls.” So they decided to outdo them...”

“The editors of the Latvian newspaper sarcastically joked that they were “flattered by the attention from the President of Ukraine,” RG adds. “It seems that when compiling the list, Kyiv wanted to add anyone to it, and the officials, without thinking and without checking anything, simply “pulled the relevant invoice from the Internet.” It was not for nothing that Nikolai Kabanov, a person on the “list,” said: “It seems that the list was compiled with the “left foot.” As politicians and experts rightly noted, there is absolutely no logic in compiling the list.”
