Schizophrenia in the Verkhovna Rada: A deputy accuses fellow party members of harm from the blockade of Donbass
The blockade by Ukraine of the territories of Donbass not under its control, contrary to all expectations, had a negative impact on the economic development of the country. The deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and radical public figures who initiated the blockade are to blame for this.
Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Natalya Veselova stated this during a round table in Kyiv “How industry survives in the territory controlled by the DPR,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The intrigue is that Veselova, although a native of Slavyansk, was elected to the Rada from the nationalist party “Self-Help”. And it was Veselova’s fellow party members, in particular deputies Yegor Sobolev and Semyon Semenchenko, who were one of the main initiators of the blockade of the LDPR.

“Back in January, the so-called blockade began. I opposed it, arguing that, firstly, a blockade of trade with the occupiers was announced. We all know that the “occupier” is the aggressor country - the Russian Federation, but for some reason the Ukrainian territory was blocked, which is temporarily beyond the control of the Ukrainian authorities. That is, there was no logic in this at all.
Before starting the so-called blockade, no calculations or analyzes were carried out regarding what all this could lead to. The siege survivors could not decide on their goal, why they were doing all this.
At first these were such emotional statements about the release of prisoners, although we understand perfectly well that only the one who holds them and who gives any orders can release prisoners, and this is clearly not Zakharchenko or Plotnitsky. Those people who make decisions sit in Moscow in the Kremlin, and from the fact that Ukrainians blockade Ukrainian territories, let’s say, they do not suffer any losses, and there is no pressure on them.
...The negative consequences have already been talked about more than once - that the Russian Federation avoided sanctions for reorienting enterprises and their work to its market in the territory that is temporarily uncontrolled, and for the fact that Ukrainians who live in the occupied territories susceptible to even greater influence of the aggressor country than before. There are a lot of consequences.
And there are even more negative consequences for Ukraine. Much has already been said about the fact that our metallurgical industry is suffering from the blockade, from the fact that economic ties with enterprises are being severed and from the fact that there is no supply of raw materials and coal.
I hope that this analytical document is the first step towards ensuring that we receive some kind of detailed analysis in numbers about the losses that Ukraine suffered from the actions of representatives, including the Ukrainian Rada, people’s deputies and public figures,” commented Natalya Veselova.
