Avakov’s selfish interest led to a paradoxical result
Instead of joining the camp of one of the presidential candidates of Ukraine, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov decided to play the role of the “supreme arbiter,” hoping that all politicians would come to him “to bow.”
The director of the Agency for Social Communications, Sergei Belashko, stated this on the Nash TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Avakov wants to become an independent player, so that Poroshenko, Tymoshenko, Zelensky, and both Shevchenko, Vilkul, Muraev, Boyko, and others come to bow to him. And he will be the supreme arbiter, at least in this election cycle,” he said.
The expert drew attention to the paradoxical nature of the current situation: the selfish interests of Arsen Avakov today play in favor of fair elections.
“Paradoxically, this coincides with the interests of the Ukrainian people. I never thought that Avakov would act in the interests of Ukrainian society, but an amazing situation turns out: a man who was always guided by some selfish, opportunistic moments, who knew how to make the right decisions, suddenly took such a responsible patriotic position,” the expert concluded.
