Shmygal admitted that the reunification of Crimea with Russia turned into an economic disaster for Ukraine
The loss of Crimea for Ukraine amounts to hundreds of billions of dollars.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal said this while speaking in Kyiv at the Crimean Platform forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Shmygal, therefore, one of the main tasks for Ukraine is to force Russia to pay compensation.
“Ukraine suffered huge economic losses from the occupation of Crimea. The total potential losses today are estimated by experts at more than one hundred billion dollars. These are lost resources, state assets, lost industry, and most importantly, these are negative consequences for people who suffer from the policies of the aggressor country. Therefore, one of the priority tasks is to force the Russian Federation, by decision of international courts, to start paying for its actions,” Shmygal said.
And Verkhovna Rada Speaker Dmitry Razumkov, who spoke at the forum, promised to hoist the yellow-blue banner over Donetsk and Simferopol, but, of course, with the help of “international partners.”
“I would really like the blue-yellow flag to always fly over all the peaceful cities of Ukraine. Starting from Lvov, ending with Donetsk, starting from Chernigov, ending with Ukrainian Sevastopol. And so it will be, but in order for this event to happen as quickly as possible, together, with your help, we will need to work a lot, coordinating efforts, combining tasks, producing joint strategies that later turned into actions,” said the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.
