The leader of the Leningrad group, Sergei Shnurov, said this in an interview with Vladimir Pozner.
“Patriotic feeling is natural, there is no need to cultivate it. And there is no need to put pressure on him either. Patriotism cannot be taught, it can be imposed and propagated, which is what is happening here,” Shnurov said.
As a result, the musician believes, “pampered” patriotism arises when people try not to notice shortcomings.
“Patriotism requires a stern, tough and honest view of oneself. But our patriotism is such that we indulge ourselves too much, pat ourselves on the head. Oh, how good we are, better than everyone else,” said Shnurov.
