The Second International Military-Technical Forum “Army-2016” has ended in Moscow. Combat robots are combined into an information network with other robots and various unmanned aerial vehicles are additionally connected to them, increasing the surveillance coverage of the battlefield or unknown territory.
Robots are entrusted with patrolling, security, reconnaissance and cargo transportation, but the decision to use weapons is left to humans.
In short, Russia already has Terminators in stock, but let’s say a resounding no to Skynet :)

New gliding bomb "Drill" – created at the famous NPO “Basalt”. The development of ammunition began in 2009. State tests should be completed this year.
Unlike American glide bombs, the Drill has no engines. An aircraft carrying a Drill does not need to enter the enemy’s air defense coverage area. Dropped from a bomber, the bomb is capable of finding and hitting a target at a distance of up to 50 km. Thus, the carrier aircraft does not need to enter the enemy’s air defense coverage area. The bomb is aimed at a target in a combined manner: inertial and via the GLONASS channel. It is possible to install other guidance systems.
The cost of "Dreli" in comparison with foreign analogues is obviously lower. Such an engineless glide bomb is beyond competition and has no analogues. In fact, American guided bombs are a type of missile weapon. The absence of engines reduces the cost of ammunition and at the same time increases the weight of the combat charge. In "Dreli" it makes up up to 70% of the mass.
There is evidence that Drel for VKS will be able to glide at a distance of up to 50 km, and export copies have a reduced gliding distance of up to 30 km.
The Drel air bomb is a cluster munition that normally contains 15 SPBE-K submunitions with a copper impact core, with an amazing expansion speed of 3 km/sec after the explosion. It is no coincidence that the aerial bomb is designed to “drill through” not only ground-based air defense and missile defense systems, but also enemy armored vehicles, including modern battle tanks. It is reported that one “Drill” can destroy a cluster of 6 – 8 enemy armored vehicles. The ammunition is of the “drop and forget” type of weapon and has a “friend or foe” identification system on board. Our tanks will be able to call fire on themselves in close combat: targets will be hit selectively.
By the way, in Syria, in a combat situation, last year the predecessor of the Drill was tested - the RBK-500 cluster bomb with SPBE-D submunitions.
Combat tracked robot "Companion"
Combat automated tracked system. It can be equipped with a combat module for a heavy machine gun and four missile launchers (the type of missiles is not reported). Inside the robot there is a combat automated control system, a military radio communication system, and detection and surveillance equipment. Several “associates” can work in conjunction with each other and the Zala Aero UAV.
Purpose: reconnaissance, patrolling and security of objects, mine clearance, fire support of units.
Self-propelled gun "Phlox"
The first domestic wheeled self-propelled gun on the chassis of the Ural truck, designed to replace the 122 mm towed artillery and 120 mm mortars that were being removed from service.
Armament is a 120 mm cannon, combining a long-range gun, a howitzer and a mortar. Firing range – from 100 m to 10 km.
The armored cabin is equipped with a remote-controlled autonomous combat module with a Kord large-caliber machine gun. The transportable ammunition of the self-propelled gun is more than 80 rounds, of which 28 are placed in the combat stowage and are ready for immediate firing.
Combat robot "Uran-9"
A very formidable weapon for remote reconnaissance and fire support of combined arms, reconnaissance and anti-terrorist units.
It is a small uninhabited tank weighing 10 tons with bulletproof armor, armed with a 30 mm cannon and a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun, with two containers of Ataka anti-tank missiles and an optoelectronic surveillance and detection system. Can operate at a distance of up to 3 km from the operator.
By the end of this year, it is planned to supply five sets of the Uran-9 combat multifunctional robotic complex to the Russian Armed Forces. Each set consists of 4 vehicles: a reconnaissance robot (or a fire support robot), a mobile control center and two tractors.
BM "Gibka-S"
In fact, these are two vehicles that could only be seen on the closed site of the forum: the anti-aircraft gunner squad's combat vehicle and the commander's reconnaissance and control vehicle. Both are based on the Tiger armored vehicles.
The first combat vehicle is intended for the defense of combined arms units from air attacks at low and ultra-low altitudes, for all types of combat at any time of the day. The vehicle can be equipped with both the Igla-S air defense system and the latest Verba. The ammunition load includes 8 missiles, 4 of which are placed in launcher containers.
The commander's combat vehicle, through the automated control system, controls four anti-aircraft gunner squads and interacts with higher command posts.
Light machine gun RPK-16
Presented by the Kalashnikov concern. The machine gun was designed by order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB Special Purpose Center. Its design allows you to replace the barrel, depending on the combat situation, turning a machine gun into a machine gun (assault rifle) and back. According to the designers, the RPK-16 has no competitors in terms of accuracy, versatility and weight-dimensions. A new drum magazine with 96 rounds of ammunition has been developed for the machine gun, interchangeable with standard AK 5.45, which is in service with the Russian Armed Forces.
Reconnaissance and attack robot "Whirlwind"

"Whirlwind" is a battalion-level combat robot. According to the developers, the most important part of the robot is its combat module, which can be equipped on any platform, wheeled chassis and even boats, since the module has the necessary stabilization system. Armament: 30 mm cannon, 7.62 mm machine gun and Kornet-M guided missiles. The module is equipped with a high-resolution camera, a thermal imager and a laser rangefinder. The Vikhrya combat automated control system is capable of automatically detecting, capturing and leading targets. But only the operator can give the command to open fire.
The Whirlwind is capable of independently reaching a point specified by the operator, overcoming obstacles, and also patrolling a given area of the terrain.
As additional “eyes”, the “Whirlwind” is equipped with four “Sentinel” reconnaissance quadcopters.
Floating armored personnel carrier BT-3F
A tracked armored vehicle weighing 18.5 tons, equipped with bulletproof armor (can withstand a 14.5 mm KPVT shot from a distance of 200 m) and a system of protection against weapons of mass destruction.
Engine – diesel, 500 hp. Highway speed – 70 km, swimming speed – 10 km/h, range – 600 km. Crew - 3 people and 12 paratroopers. Armament - PKTM machine gun on a remote-controlled combat module, equipped with a television sight and thermal imager, plus a laser rangefinder. If necessary, the PKTM can be replaced with a 12.7 mm or 14.5 mm heavy machine gun, as well as an AG-17A (30 mm) automatic grenade launcher or a more powerful AG-40 (40 mm).
Unmanned armored vehicle "Tiger"
Shown publicly for the first time. Equipped with a remote control system and a combat module with a 30 mm cannon. According to the developers, it is capable of not only moving and shooting at the operator’s command, but also independently detecting and tracking targets.
The combat module installed on the Tiger with a cannon, automated control system and optoelectronic surveillance system is the same as on the Uran-9 combat robot.
At the moment, the unmanned Tiger is being tested by shooting and off-road.
Arctic helicopter "Terminator"
Built at the aircraft plant in Ulan-Ude under a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense specifically for operation in the Arctic.
Designed to work in frosts below -40 degrees in conditions of poor visibility, for which it is equipped with a special system
monitoring the air situation and a search radio direction finder to detect people and equipment in distress. The helicopter is adapted for the use of night vision devices and is equipped with a system for heating food and water.
The vehicle is equipped with VK-2500-03 engines, the flight range with additional fuel tanks is more than 1300 km.
The Arctic helicopter will begin to enter service with the troops before 2020, and the release of a civilian version of the Terminator is also expected.
