Shoigu refused to talk to the Pentagon
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu does not want to talk to US representatives and does not want to pick up the phone when calling.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said this at a briefing in Washington, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Kirby also explained to reporters how communication occurs with the Russian defense department.
“Usually you go through political channels. And you also use the defense attache. The Defense Attaché at the embassy, no matter what country we are talking about... this senior military officer is the representative of the Minister of Defense in all our embassies. And so they usually, having worked out the policy in terms of the efficiency of carrying out the call, rely heavily on the military attaché.
I don't have a date to tell you when the last attempt was. Quite a long time has passed, of course, many weeks since we made another attempt to communicate with Minister Shoigu. And the Russians showed little interest in this conversation,” Kirby said.
