“Shock and panic”: The leader of “Azov” about the decadent mood at the front
The militants in the Ukrainian group in Donbass are demoralized by the prospect of having to retreat from the front line if Vladimir Zelensky begins to implement the Minsk agreements according to the Steinmeier formula.
The founder of the Azov National Battalion, the chairman of the National Corps party, militant Andrei Biletsky, spoke about this on the talk show “Freedom of Speech by Savik Shuster,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The extremely important thing was excluded from the paper text of the Steinmeier formula that the preview before the Steinmeier formula and the elections will be the withdrawal of troops. And this is a catastrophic situation.
I know the mood in the brigades and I can speak about it frankly: not only do people not accept it, people are deeply shocked that for every meter of land they paid for in blood, they are now being told to simply leave. Just: “get out, it was worth absolutely nothing.”
I know the mood of the people in Zolote, they are absolutely panicky. Zolote is one of the few settlements that directly supported the Ukrainian military. A large number of people live there and serve in brigades. They are shocked, they don’t know where to go, they understand that Ukraine is simply abandoning them,” said the nationalist.
At the same time, Biletsky emphasized that the disengagement of forces and assets is an exclusively unilateral act.
“It will be produced exclusively from the Ukrainian side and is already being done from the Ukrainian side. There is a practical explanation for this. Ukraine is big, and sometimes our politicians think that we can retreat to Lvov, that is, we have somewhere to retreat. Let’s imagine that the separation will be minimal (there are 5, 10 and 30 kilometers in two directions), five kilometers in both directions.
If you look at the map of the so-called LDPR, you will see that Ukrainian troops are stationed in the suburbs of Gorlovka, Donetsk, Lugansk... That side has never in its life even physically agreed to any disengagement and will not do this,” the militant said.
The studio contacted Kyiv-controlled Severodonetsk, where a man who identified himself as the ex-head of the military-civil administration of the Popasnyansky district, whom a local journalist introduced as a volunteer, confirmed Biletsky’s words about the diversion.
“In Stanitsa Luganskaya we withdrew our troops, Russia did not withdraw and is not withdrawing. Russians are now walking freely in the gray zone, plus the war is going on along the entire front line. If they don’t report to you, it’s very bad,” the “volunteer” complained.
