“The show is over”: Ukrainian Prime Minister cleared the Cabinet of Ministers of journalists
The new Prime Minister of Ukraine Alexey Goncharuk kicked journalists out of the Cabinet meeting room.
According to the official, from now on the meetings will no longer be a “show” that was broadcast live. Now ministers will communicate with the press only after the meeting, where they will talk about the decisions made.
Goncharuk stated this when opening the first meeting of the new Cabinet, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We will change the way the government operates. I want to warn you about this right away. From the very beginning, we agreed with our colleagues that we would call a spade a spade and this applies, among other things, to the activities of the government. Everything that should be open should be open, that is, everything that concerns public information and access to public institutions. We are now even thinking about how to open access to the territory to the government...
But the government meeting itself should not turn into a show. And this is very important, because we will change the format of government meetings and communicate with the press based on the results of this work. We will first work with the ministers in a normal manner, which is adequate to the situation in the country on whose territory hostilities are taking place. This is a very serious story, but after the government meeting we will go to the press and communicate with you, report on what decisions were made, why, and answer your questions,” Goncharuk said.
Thank you!
