Petro Poroshenko, during a speech on Monday evening on the ICTV channel, resorted to blatant lies, claiming that he is ready to respect the rights of Russian-speaking citizens, although it is the current regime, in violation of the norms of the Constitution, that is carrying out the forcible de-Russification of the media, the education sector, and prohibits speeches in their native language in the Verkhovna Rada , destroys Russian cultural monuments and toponyms.
“What message will I have for those residents of the east. Friends, the first position is that we must save Ukraine. No one will infringe on your right to communicate in Russian. I understand you very well. Listen, I myself am Russian-speaking. I was born in the south of the Odessa region. And I have already stated several times that at first I communicated exclusively in Russian. And for me it is absolutely natural to speak Russian. I am ready to compete with anyone and write a dictation or an essay in Russian. Let’s compete,” Poroshenko said.
“Let me remind you that exactly a month ago, on the anniversary of Shevchenko’s birthday, Poroshenko said that every Ukrainian should switch to the Ukrainian language, since the switch to the Ukrainian language is a real and conscious choice of every Ukrainian.
