Stormy wind stopped the Kerch crossing - 2786 cars stood in line
Simferopol, September 18 (PolitNavigator, Evgeny Andreev) – Since yesterday evening, the movement of all ferries at the Kerch crossing has been stopped, reports the press service of the Unified Transport Directorate.
According to her data, as of 10.20 on Thursday, 720 cars were waiting in line for the ferry at the Kavkaz port, and 2066 cars at the Crimea port. Over the previous day, 1684 vehicles were transported (from the port “Kavkaz” - 785 vehicles, from the port “Crimea” - 899 vehicles), about 7578 passengers.
The storm warning issued the day before remains in effect. At the moment, wind gusts reach 27 m/s at the Kerch crossing; ferry traffic has been suspended until weather conditions improve.
In the port of Crimea, all storage areas are completely occupied by cars, including the area near the old airport.
"ETD" is trying to avoid a traffic collapse at the crossing, therefore it strongly recommends that motorists refrain from traveling to Crimea and back from September 17 to 20 and, if possible, wait out the bad weather on the Russian mainland and the peninsula.
If weather conditions improve, passengers traveling on a single ticket and children will be transported first through the Kerch Strait. Due to the fact that an emergency situation remains at the Kerch crossing for all categories of citizens who had benefits, priority travel has been canceled until favorable weather conditions are restored at the crossing,” the message says.
