All those who consider themselves Ukrainians should be “a little nationalists,” said Verkhovna Rada deputy Nestor Shufrych, an ally of Ukrainian presidential candidate Yuriy Boyko.

Shufrich said this during a visit to Nikolaev in an interview with the local publication NikVesti, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“There was aggression in 14, of course, not from Odessa residents and not from, let’s say, real Nikolaev residents. Mostly they were newcomers. Moreover, these were sent, these were hired people. And then they felt some kind of rightness, power. And today, it seems to me, they are simply afraid to catch people’s eyes.

I won’t say where now, but we said that there are such segments of government, not of nationalism, I emphasize, but of right-wing radicalism. After all, we should all be a little nationalists, if we are Ukrainians, this should sit in each of us. But nationalism and radicalism are different things,” Shufrich assures.

He also admitted that the Party of Regions, of which Shufrich was a member before the 2014 coup, helped nurture Ukrainian Nazis, whom the deputy bashfully calls “radicals.”

“I’ll tell you more. Then the Party of Regions supported Svoboda because it was necessary to kill Batkivshchyna. Well, that's it. There were certain people from Forbes who helped fight Tymoshenko.

In 12, unfortunately, there was an entire headquarters that supported the radicals. I categorically disagreed with this, I fought against it (As can be seen from the results, Shufrich’s “fight” was extremely “successful” - approx. ed.), we said that it was wrong to support radicals out of fear of Tymoshenko. I'm not saying "Freedom" - not "Freedom". They supported the radicals. So that Tymoshenko gets fewer votes and support in parliament,” admitted Boyko’s ally.

Shufrich believes that it is still possible to return Donbass to the control of Kyiv - it is enough to start direct negotiations with the LDPR.

“If we can resolve the issue regarding Donbass within a year or a year and a half, taking into account amendments to the Constitution, which is written down in the Minsk agreements, but only on the basis of the Minsk agreements can we realize peace today. Of course, direct dialogue with Lugansk and Donetsk, with the mediation of Moscow and with the support of Berlin and Paris, the implementation of the Minsk agreements in terms of the adoption of bills that should be adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. By the way, only the Verkhovna Rada can do this. I don’t understand why we haven’t accepted them in four years,” said the Ukrainian politician.

As PolitNavigator reported, earlier Yuri Boyko’s headquarters published a photograph from the Central Election Commission, where the presidential candidate, after registration, posed against the backdrop of Bandera’s slogan “Glory to Ukraine - glory to heroes.”
