Shufrich, who helped legalize the coup, blames everything on Yanukovych
In February 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly insisted that then-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych not leave the territory of Ukraine and, if this happened, Crimea and Donbass would remain under the control of Kyiv, and an armed conflict would be avoided.
Nestor Shufrich, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Opposition Platform - For Life, stated this in a conversation with his former comrade-in-arms in the Party of Regions, Elena Bondarenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I can still understand why he ran away from Mezhyhirya - the crowd is rushing towards you, the devil knows who would have acted and how. But why he ran away from Kharkov, and especially from Crimea, I don’t understand.
If he had gained a foothold in Crimea, he would have forced him to conduct a dialogue with him. Legitimate president. There were no impeachment proceedings. I am sure there would have been neither the Donbass nor, especially, the Crimean crisis
Moreover, I know for sure that Putin demanded this from him, literally demanded it. And only when, if I’m not mistaken, he finally left the territory of Ukraine on February 25, then the issue of Crimea was resolved,” Shufrich said.
Let us note that Shufrich himself was among those “regionals” who, after the coup d’etat, continued to attend meetings of the Verkhovna Rada, thereby helping to legalize the new regime.
It should also be recalled that during the Euromaidan, a wiretap of a telephone conversation between Shufrich and Yulia Tymoshenko appeared on the Internet (the Ukrainian press attributed a love relationship to them at one time).
The gas princess called for a bomb to be dropped on the Russians, Shufrich did not contradict his interlocutor, but promised to go to war against Russia with his son.
