According to Shufrich, he was informed in advance about the impending attack.
“We informed the police that we were moving to the regional administration building, and that they ensure law and order. I introduced myself and asked the people on duty to inform the department that I would have a meeting with the press here. As soon as the meeting began, the “right-wingers” burst in and something happened that, in my understanding, could not happen. They wanted to throw me in the trash can, but I told them that you will only put me dead in the trash can. They tried to do this, they didn’t succeed and it will never be possible to do this in Odessa with Odessa residents,” Shufrich believes.
“You can have different attitudes towards the previous government. “I myself, while holding power, had to endure a lot from the “family,” the politician said, thus trying to dissociate himself from the Yanukovych regime.
Let us note that, according to observers, the Party of Regions, which was recently actively represented by Nestor Shufrich, is responsible for the development of radical nationalist movements in Ukraine. According to one version, the authorities secretly indulged the right-wing radicals in order to create the appearance of a threat to Viktor Yanukovych’s electorate and encourage voters in the South-East to continue voting for the “blue and white”.
