Shufrich was suspected of transferring assets to Switzerland

Kyiv, March 30 (Navigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – People’s Deputy “regional” Nestor Shufrich may be withdrawing assets from Ukraine to Switzerland, the Ukrainian service of Radio Liberty reports.

According to her, on January 20, Nestor Shufrich’s son Alexander, together with Vyacheslav Cherepanei (Shufrich Sr.’s assistant), registered the company Real Holding Group Ltd in the Swiss city of St. Gallen. The firm is registered for the purpose of “holding and managing investments in domestic and foreign companies and trading in goods of any kind.”

The company's authorized capital is 100 thousand Swiss francs. It does not have a single employee on staff. Its third co-owner according to documents is lawyer Patrick Stach. He assured that he knew about the reputation of the Shufrichs in Ukraine and that the Swiss bank, having checked the origin of money from the authorized capital, found no traces of money laundering.

“To date, Real Holding Group AG has not received any assets or shares. Every movement is carefully examined by the bank that services the company’s accounts,” Partik Stach said in a commentary to the Swiss publication Sonntag Zeitung.

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, a company with a similar name is associated with the Shufrich family - Real-Group LLC, its founders are Nestor Shufrich and Vyacheslav Cherepanya. According to some reports, this company, through Laspi LLC, is involved in the seizure of a parking point for ships, which is located near the Paton Bridge in Kyiv, in Lake Vydubitsky. In addition, Vyacheslav Cherepanya, together with Maria Shufrich (the late mother of Nestor Shufrich), are listed as co-founders of the Sikorsky Museum of the History of Aeronautics and Aviation charity foundation. Back in 2000, this foundation received a 49-year lease on the famous Sikorsky estate in Kyiv at 15-B Yaroslavov Val Street. The new tenants undertook to restore the dilapidated estate within three years, but this has not yet been done.

So far, the Swiss company of the Shufrich family, Real Holding Group Ltd, resembles a simple “mailbox” - there is no staff and no real office, the RS report notes. Alexander Shufrych, as a close relative of the MP, and Vyacheslav Cherepanya, as his close associate, are both subject to the EU directive on close attention to the money of “politically exposed persons”.

In addition, Europe and the United States have already several times expanded the lists of Ukrainian-Russian figures subject to sanctions, including asset freezes. Viktor Medvedchuk (a close associate of Nestor Shufrich since the days of the SDPU(o)) is already on the list. Likewise, if Shufrich’s family, or he himself, decided to hide their Ukrainian assets abroad, then the timing was not very good for this.

This is the opinion of the chairman of the Swiss department of Transparency International, Jean Pierre Min, as he told the Sonntag Zeitung.

“Ukrainian politicians are opening shell companies in Switzerland – and we are very careful with such companies and accounts. Because such companies, as a rule, serve to quickly transfer questionable assets from Ukraine abroad. This applies most of all to companies with functions that are not fully understood and that do not have people on staff,” explained Pierre Min.
