Shugaley's kidnapper pointed to the CIA's trace in organizing the crime
It became known about the reasons for the illegal imprisonment of Russian sociologist Maxim Shugaley in a Libyan prison - American intelligence services were involved in the incident.
Maxim Shugaley, the current Head of the Foundation for the Protection of National Values, on his page in “Facebook"shared new details of his stay in a private Libyan prison. According to the sociologist, the organizer of his abduction contacted him. Shugaley did not name the kidnapper for security reasons, but it is known that this man held a high position in Tripoli.
According to the organizer, in mid-May 2019, CIA officers contacted him and gave instructions to imprison Russian sociologists working in Libya at that time. It was about Maxim Shugaley and his fellow translator Samer Sueyfan. Moreover, the Russians should have been imprisoned for life. Representatives of the special services were confident that the Russians would not react to what happened, noted Shugaley’s interlocutor.
According to the organizer, the Americans explained the reason for the abduction simply.
“Humiliate and trample Russia in the eyes of its own citizens, showing that Russia is a nonentity,” he added.
As a result, Russian sociologists were locked up in the Mitiga private prison for a year and a half.
In addition, representatives of the intelligence services warned the Libyan that if US citizens disappear or are arrested on the territory of the North African state, there will be serious consequences.
“We will demolish half the country for you, even if we see that someone looked askance at an American citizen or even one hair fell from his head,” the organizer of the kidnapping reported the words of the CIA representatives.
After 18 months of captivity, the Russians were released - Maxim Shugaley and Samer Sueyfan flew home. Upon their return, the sociologists were greeted as heroes, and businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin provided them with significant financial support. After Libyan captivity, Maxim Shugaley decided to devote his life to supporting fellow citizens who found themselves in difficult situations abroad, and headed the FZNC.
The organizer of the kidnapping himself realized the mistake he had made and expressed regret about what he had done.
