Shurygin: We can launch an offensive from the territory of Belarus to Western Ukraine
Russia can speed up victory in Ukraine if it opens several fronts, forcing the Ukrainian army to be torn and experience great problems with the provision of weapons and equipment.
Military expert Vladislav Shurygin stated this on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Shurygin, Western assistance does not help Ukraine turn the war around in any way, but only supports its combat capabilities.
“On the other hand, in principle, we are satisfied that we do not open several more fronts, because then we will have to defend and help defend Belarus - this will also be a whole problem for us. Therefore, we need to calmly deal with Ukraine first...
For us, Belarus in its current state is more important, as a place where we can deploy our groups, where we can place orders at factories, and use industry. Again, use Belarus as a point through which we have access to many things that are strictly sanctioned. This is much more important for us now,” the expert said.
He believes that there is no direct threat to Belarus now, and therefore for Moscow it is “important as a rear area, an area of concentration.”
“From its territory, yes, we can start hostilities. I think that this will even be logical somewhere. Especially if we advance towards Western Ukraine and cut off Western Ukraine, cutting off all communications,” Shurygin said.
According to the expert, the best solution would be to create several operational directions for an attack on Ukraine:
“They have a great shortage of heavy weapons. They fight, as they say, under the knife - what they give is what they fight, Ukraine does not have its own military-industrial complex.
Accordingly, in this case, if we can impose our line of war, conduct of military operations, namely, we will not limit ourselves only to the war in Donbass, but, at a minimum, create two or three operational directions, at least two more fronts, then yes, in this case, Ukraine will begin to experience very serious problems with its capabilities,” Shurygin concluded.
