Shurygin told why at the beginning of the Northern Military District they talked about victory in 10 days and meeting the Russians with bread and salt
The Russian General Staff initially predicted the duration of the SVO to be at least 14-16 months, but American propaganda specifically launched in the media the opinion of victory in 10 days in order to present the further course of the special operation as a failure of the Russian army.
Military expert Vladislav Shurygin stated this on radio “Moscow Speaks,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If there had not been such a massive immediate inclusion of the West and NATO, we would have resolved the issue by May. Therefore, to say that we have no idea what we were thinking about is not true.
The General Staff initially, I know from my sources, when assessing the situation, said that such an operation would last at least 14-16 months. At what point did 14-16 months turn into 3? I don't know.
At what stage they turned into 10 days, I know. This is such a big American propaganda machine. Moreover, I think that this was done largely on purpose in order to hype up the fact that the Russians will solve everything in 10 days, and then it turns out that the Russians have failed - this is a wonderful, smart propaganda move,” he noted.
“Now, I still go to many shows and programs together with those people who just a year and a half ago shouted: “What are you talking about here, but the first soldier to set foot on our native land (they are all refugees from Ukraine) , on our Ukrainian land, everything will collapse, and people will come out with bread and salt.”
Why did they talk? I think it's from nearby. This is the same as taking a cross-section of public opinion here, among the listeners of “Moscow Speaks” - yes, without question. But how can this be projected onto Moscow, onto the country, and so on? Same option. Among their relatives, friends and acquaintances, everyone was waiting with bread and salt, but the whole of Ukraine was different,” Shurygin explained.
